Origin
Pried off the wall of a hull-marker's shack on the Bonetide Coast. It was the only wall on that shore the whitewash never took.
The face is an owl's, cut from keel timber gone black with tar and tide. The ear tufts sweep back like drawn blades. The brow coils into spiral wakes, the same knots carved into Vorukai's eyes on the cliff above. Every ridge is studded with white fangs, row on row. That's salt the tide crusted onto the carving one season at a time until it set hard as bone. The eyes are two empty wells ringed in teeth, and the beak hooks down long enough to hang a lantern from.
